Hi All,
Loss of the Endurance
I'm excited to announce that Part 7 of the Shackleton series, The Loss of the Endurance, is finally out. I'll be honest, I rushed this one a bit, especially the vocals. But it's out there now, capturing the moment when the Endurance was crushed by ice. Although, it didn't actually sink until a later one.
International Release:
Over the past month, I've been on the road, travelling to Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Thailand for work. Some of the production editing for this track was literally done mid-air on my laptop, with the final release button pressed in Bangkok.
The Music:
I had a stepping down type of bass run in mind for this song. Like "While my guitar gently weeps" by the Beatles. I was trying get a feel of tension and big guitar sound. So I retuned my guitars down to Bm. I trick that "The Cure" use to get drowney heavy guitar sound. I now after the release notice that the opening lyrics do not quite fit. I will record them for the album release later.
Capt Frank Worlsey said that the beams of the Endurance snapped with a huge bang like canon fire in the night. They were made from Greenheart considered one of the strongest timber in the world. But when it snapped it made a huge boom and scared most of the crew and dogs.
So I tried to add that feeling. Being in the middle of nowhere and these huge booms would have been really frightening.
Video Add:
I've also put together a quick video recap showcasing what we've been doing in this project so far, check it out below.
Track 8: A Turning Point:
So here we are at a real turning point in the story. The original mission? That's now out the window—it's all about survival from here. This next track really leans into that shift, with a working title of A Brave New World. It captures the moment Shackleton pivots from exploration to pure determination to get everyone home safely. The music reflects that too; it's got a moody, slower tempo to bring in the weight of what's ahead for everyone.
Stay tuned for more. Thanks for listening!
Tony
