Behind the Music

A 2-year journey creating an 18-track concept album inspired by Shackleton’s Endurance expedition. The story, the music, and the process behind it.

Each track is built around a real place I’ve been. The idea was simple: try to capture not just how it looks, but how it feels to stand there. The wind, the space, the quiet… or sometimes the noise. Then I layered in the actual sounds of those places, waves rolling in, lake water lapping at the shore, kea calling through the mountains.

It's been a while since I last wrote here. From the outside, it might look like things have gone quiet… but under the surface, it's been anything but.

National Geographic has since confirmed — in interviews and production notes, not clearly in the film itself — that the voices in Endurance were created using AI voice recreation.

Shackleton, Frank Worsley, and Tom Crean made that final crossing together, exhausted, close to collapse, and long past anything the body should’ve tolerated. Yet afterwards, all three men admitted something quietly, almost shyly: They felt a fourth presence with them.
