Shackleton; The Weddell Sea: Help Us Make It Authentic!

Shackleton, the Endurance in the Weddell Sea
Shackleton, the Endurance in the Weddell Sea

Hey everyone,

I'm thrilled to announce that our first track, "Eve of the Great War / Leaving South Georgia," is out on all streaming services! The pressure is on—or, as Shackleton would say, "the mission is on."

We Need Your Help:

Can anyone lend a hand? Peter and I are diving into loads of Shackleton books to ensure our historical details are spot on. We're focusing on the timeline and the accuracy of our sound effects. Right now, I'm working on our third track, "The Weddell Sea," and trying to figure out if the SS Endurance was under sail or using its engines at certain points. I've found references to them using steam to break through heavy-pack ice, but I'd love more info.

If you know anything, please drop a comment below!

The Weddell Sea:

We're finally at sea, and I want to capture a real nautical vibe. After the bold and emotional start with our first release, this track will reflect those first few days of relatively calm sailing before they hit the heavy pack ice.

An Instrumental Feel:

This track feels it could be perfect as an instrumental, filled with nautical sound effects, capturing the crew's high spirits and sense of adventure.

Timeline:

Shackleton and his crew set sail from South Georgia on 5 December 1914. Just two days later, on 7 December 1914, they encountered heavy pack ice. This song is set just before 7 December 1914.

We Want Your Comments:

We'd love to hear from you! Any insights or details to help us keep this project historically accurate and engaging would be fantastic.

Please leave your thoughts in the comment box below.

Update you soon on when "The Weddell Sea" will be completed.

Let's make history together through the power of music.

Cheers,

Tony Parker NESC

I am sure that they were using Sails only until they reached the thick ice
