Campbell Island ZL9CI - A 1999 Documentary of workers on Campbell Island

Updated: Jun 1

ZL9CI Campbell Island

Hi there,

I stumbled upon this amazing documentary called "ZL9CI Campbell Island in 1999," and I thought I would share it with you! It's like stepping back in time and getting a firsthand look at life on Campbell Island back then.

This video documentary follows a group of workers on their expedition to set up an antenna for remote access to the island. It offers a glimpse into some of the places, weather, and wildlife that we focused on in the:Life on Sub-Antarctic Campbell Island - The Weather Station Years" album. From exploring the old Metservice Weather station to encountering unexpected visitors like sea lions (yep, you read that right!), this documentary is full of surprises and insights into what life was like in the Sub-Antarctic.

And guess what? There's a part where a curious sea lion decides to give the antenna a little makeover! These unexpected moments truly capture the wild and unpredictable nature of Campbell Island.

Enjoy,

Tony Parker
