Exploring the Creative Power of Roli Seaboard:
Hey there,
Recently, I've received a few questions about my music's keyboard and synthesiser sounds, so I thought I'd share a bit about my setup.
Quite a few years back, during a trip to Hong Kong, I stumbled upon the Roli Seaboard Block and Lightpad. Ever since the release of Pike River, I've been using these instruments for synthesiser sounds. From drums to strings, backing vocals to lead guitar, the Roli has been a versatile tool in my musical arsenal. You can check out some videos showcasing its capabilities at the bottom of this post.
What sets the Roli keyboards apart is their 5-dimensional functionality. They're tactile and responsive, allowing you to create sounds that simply aren't possible with traditional keyboards.
With the Roli, you can:
Strike: Trigger notes at varying velocities for dynamic expression.
Press into the note: Deepen sounds, emulating the nuances of wind instruments.
Slide: Add texture and depth by sliding your finger up and down the keys.
Glide: Bend pitch and create vibrato effects with lateral finger movements.
Push and Slide:
Seamlessly transition between different instrument sounds, like Strings to French Horns.
This is controlled by the Roli EQUATOR2, a powerful hybrid synthesiser software offering endless creative possibilities. Other Roli synthesisers are also available.
You have to see and hear the Rolis in action:
But don't just take my word for it—you have to see and hear the Rolis in action to truly appreciate their game-changing capabilities.
By the way, for quite a few years now, Roli has not been available in both New Zealand and Australia. But as of this month, that has all changed.
Check out the videos below to witness the magic for yourself.
Keep creating,
